Intro Workshop What is Needed for the Workshop: Number of people: A minimum of 9 participates, up to 50, Age range: Adult workshop: 16-70-? Youth workshop: 12-15 Child workshop: 9 - 11 Facilities: A room large and empty enough to accommodate the number of participants to move around freely; chairs for all, a small table and chair for the leader. Appropriate lighting. What the Participants Need: Be comfortably dressed in sweats/grubbies. A basic goal to have fun and enjoy your fellow players What Happens in the 3-hour Introductory Workshop: •I.(Rebecca) introduce myself and my general and improv background, •I pass out some handouts on basic rules of the workshop and give an opening talk on improv, then give a brief outline of what will happen in the workshop. •Members introduce themselves to the rest of the group •I Start the whole group with easy warm-up excercises •I have the group divide into two groups: one to participate and one to watch •Each group takes turn moving through a series of simple exercises •15 min Break •I show a video on professional improv troop performances (30 mins) •I lead the group on some more elaborate theatre games •Last 30 minutes I allow the group to try improvised scenes On conclusion of the workshop, I ask members to share their experience, likes/dislikes with the workshop. I allow those interested in continuing to sign up for ongoing classes. |
